Why AI Advice All Sounds the Same
Here’s the truth about how AI learns, and once you see it, you can’t unsee it. Someone posts advice online. It ranks. It gets crawled. The model learns it. Then it repeats that advice back to millions of people as fact.
I call this the Pipeline, and it explains why every AI-generated sales page, bio, and email in your niche has started blending together. The model can only work with what was published.
Notice what never makes it into the Pipeline:
The lesson you learned in a client meeting that went sideways
The insight from your first launch that flopped
The pattern you spotted after twenty years in your industry
The thing customers keep thanking you for that you’ve never written down
None of that was ever published, so AI is only guessing. And when AI guesses, it guesses with total confidence, which is exactly how smart business owners end up following generic advice that was never built for their situation.
The Room Test: One Question That Changes Everything
The diagnostic at the heart of the episode is a single question, and I want you to run it on everything you publish from now on.
Could AI have written this without ever meeting me?
If the answer is yes, rewrite it. If the answer is no, publish it. That’s the Room Test.
It sounds simple, and it is, but it’s brutal in practice. Pull up your about page or your sales page right now and read it with that question in mind. Most people discover that the majority of what they’ve published could have been generated by anyone with a keyboard and a prompt.
Why This Matters for Your Revenue
When your messaging passes the Room Test, you become the only person on earth who could have written it. Nobody comparison shops a person. They comparison shop generic. That’s what positions you for premium pricing instead of racing everyone else to the bottom.
The Rooms That Built My Business
In the episode, I share three rooms from my own career that AI was never in, because this method wasn’t built from theory.
The Government Grants Office
I spent the beginning of my corporate career approving and denying business grants. I sat on the side of the desk almost nobody sees, watching exactly why some applications got funded and most got rejected. AI can tell you what a grant application should include, because that’s public. It cannot tell you what made a reviewer say yes, because that perspective was never published anywhere. That knowledge later became baked into an AI Agent in SAGE: The AI Executive Team.
The Machine Learning Project
I spent years in UX and development at Fortune 500 companies, and on one project my team trained a server to diagnose and repair itself. That was machine learning in the trenches, years before AI became a dinner table topic, and it taught me how automated systems behave when real money is on the line. Those lessons later became the foundation for how I build AI systems today. That knowledge later became SAGE: The AI Executive Team.
The Failure Years
I also share the room most people hide, the years when launches flopped, and products didn’t sell. Those failures taught me more about what actually converts than any course ever did, and none of those lessons were published either. Your failures are rooms too, and they might be your most valuable ones. That knowledge later became baked into The Business Beach Club membership.
The ROOM Method: Four Steps to AI-Proof Positioning
ROOM is an acronym, and the episode walks through all four steps.
R is Run the inventory. Systematically surface every room you’ve been in that AI wasn’t, using the inventory questions in the book.
O is Own your UVP. Turn those rooms into a unique value proposition no competitor and no AI can replicate, because it’s built from experiences only you had.
O is Operationalize it. Rebuild your offers, pricing, content, and customer experience around the thing only you can claim.
M is Market the mechanism. Name what you do, make it visible, and let your lived experience do the selling that generic marketing never could.
Underneath all four steps sits a proof layer, because claims without evidence are just noise. The book walks you through building that too, plus a seven-day plan so you know exactly what to do first.
Your Next Steps
The episode gives you the map, and the book gives you the territory. Here’s what to do next.
